Ipagpapatuloy pa rin ng San Juan City local government ang mandatory use ng face shields sa lungsod maliban na lamang kung ipatitigil na ito ng national government.

Ayon kay San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, sa sandaling magpalabas na ng go signal ang Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) Against COVID-19 hinggil sa hindi na pagsusuot ng face shield ay kaagad na rin siyang maglalabas ng kautusan hinggil dito.

“Once the IATF gives the go-signal to lift this, I will issue the necessary executive order and amend current ordinances which penalize people not using face shields,” ani Zamora, sa panayam sa telebisyon.

“If and when i-lift ng IATF we will amend the ordinance ang penalty para na lang sa non-wearing of face masks, di na face shield. I call on everyone to just wait 2 more days,” aniya pa.

Nauna rito, noong Linggo ay napagkasunduan ng mga alkalde sa Metro Manila na alisin na ang face shield policy.

Nagpalabas na rin naman si Manila Mayor at Aksiyon Demokratiko standard bearer Isko Moreno nitong Lunes ng executive order na nagsasaad na hindi na kailangan pang gumamit ng face shield sa Maynila maliban na lamang kung ito’y sa hospital settings at medical o health facilities.

Sinabi naman ni Presidential Spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque na ‘null and void’ ang naturang kautusan ng alkalde at paglabag sa executive policy ng pangulo.

Samantala, sa panig ni Zamora, sinabi nito na nirerespeto niya ang desisyon ni Moreno na ipatigil na ang mandatory na pagsusuot ng face shields.

“I believe he is correct because the Local Government Code vests upon us this authority,” ayon pa kay Zamora.

“The policy of the Metro Manila Council is to always act as one not just in the decision of face shield, the time of curfew. The MMC would always take a common stand. This was the agreement last Sunday of those mayors present including myself. I respect the decision of Mayor Isko,” aniya pa.
