Mas kaunti na ang bilang ng mga pasyenteng may coronavirus disease (COVID-19) sa Philippine General Hospital (PGH) sa nakalipas na dalawang buwan ayon sa tagapagsalita ng ospital nitong Martes, Nobyembre 2.
Kasalukuyang 107 ang bilang ng COVID-19 patients sa PGH o nasa 35% utilization rate, mababa sa noo’y all-time high na 350 pasyente nitong Setyembre.
“We do have fewer, steady decline in numbers. This is the lowest so far that we’ve been since the surge. We’re coping up and we’re able to open now some of the non-COVID wards,” sabi ni Dr. Jonas del Rosario sa isang panayam sa CNN Philippines.
Gayunpaman, mas marami ngayon ang non-COVID patients sa ospital ayon kay del Rosario.

“We’re having a problem now. Our emergency rooms are really having so many non-COVID patients by a ratio of 4:1. We do not have anymore a long waiting list for COVID, we’re able to accommodate them and the transfers are easily admitted to our hospital,” ani Del Rosario.
“It’s the non-COVID patients now that we’re trying to weigh to get them back. Now we’re going back to reopening our non-COVID and try to transfer our manpower back to the non-COVID operations,” dagdag ni del Rosario.
Matatandaang isinara pansamantala ng PGH nitong Agosto ang kanilang outpatient department dahil sa malaking bilang ng mga pasyenteng may COVID-19.
Sabi ni del Rosario, karaniwang non-COVID patients ng PGH ay may cancer, sakit sa puso at iba pang inpeksyon.
“Sapat” naman ang kasalukuyang medical and equipment supplies ng ospital habang patuloy pang bumaba ang kaso ng COVID-19.
“People are feeling much better now that we can handle the volume, it’s always a relief that we’re not getting overwhelmed. So hopefully the number can continuously decrease and we can have a better Christmas.”
