Halos 60 Pilipinong nasa Bahrain ang naiuwi sa bansa, sabi ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) nitong Martes, Nobyembre 2.

Na-repatriate ng Philippine Embassy sa Bahrain ang nasa 58 overseas Filipinos (OFs) sa pamamagitan ng Gulf Air’s direct commercial flight nitong Oktubre 28. Lumapag sila sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) kasunod na araw.

Ayon sa DFA, kabilang sa mga repatriates ang ilang detenido, overstaying Ofs, wards sa Embassy Shelter at dalawang OFs na na may medikal na kondisyon.

“Due to the continuing implementation of the limitation of arriving passengers in the Philippines, many distressed Filipinos in Manama Bahrain requested the Philippine Embassy’s assistance for booking tickets at a special rate given by Gulf Air,” sabi ng ahensya.

“The Embassy also coordinated with the DFA – Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and concerned agencies for the exemption of the repatriates from arrival limitations as well as for the quarantine facilities for the repatriates,” dagdag nito.

Simula Agosto, nanguna ang Embassy sa paglikas sa nasa 287 stranded na Pilipino sa Bahrain. Sa bilang, ang Embassy ang sumagot ng pamasahe ng 175 Pilipino sa pamamagitan ng Assistance-to-National Fund ng DFA.

Sinabi ng Embassy na patuloy itong magbibigay ng tulong upang maiuwi ang ilan pang stranded na Pilipino sa Bahrain bilang bahagi ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19) program ng gobyerno.
