Naglabas ng pahayag nitong Linggo, Oktubre 31 ang College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP) kaugnay ng pagpaslang sa broadcast journalist na si Orlando “Dondon” Dinoy sa Davao del Sur nitong Sabado, Oktubre 30.
Mariing kinundena ng grupo ang pagpatay sa “inosenteng mamamahayag” na nadatnang wala nang buhay at tadtad ng tama ng baril sa loob ng tinutuluyan nitong apartment sa Mother Ignacia St. Poblacion Uno, Bansalan, Davao del Sur.
Sa inisyal na ulat, mamahayag ng news site na Newsline Philippines at dating correspondent ng Philippine Daily Inquirer at Sunset Davao si Dinoy.
Nanawagan ang CEGP sa pamahalaan ni Duterte na itaguyod ang kapayapaan at seguridad sa lahat ng media workers.

Ang kaso ni Dinoy ay hindi lang nagpapataas pa sa bilang ng mga napaslang na mga mamamayag sa bansa kundi nagdudulot din ng takot sa mga batang mamamahayag, dagdag ng grupo.
Nagpaabot din ng pakikiramay ang grupo sa naulilang pamilya ni Dinoy.
“CEGP and TNG (The National Guilder) strongly demand immediate action regarding this case to acquire the deserved justice of the victim. We demand strengthened, consistent, and working security mechanisms for media practitioners in the country. We do not want to witness another killing of journalists. We deeply mourn with the bereaved families,” sabi ng CEGP.
May panawagan naman ang Guild sa mga publikasyong pinatatakbo ng mga estudyante.
“The Guild calls on every student publication to remain undeterred and continue upholding its duties and responsibilities of amplifying the voice of the marginalized, oppressed, and abused masses, especially as the Duterte regime is still neglectful of its role of defending press freedom at all costs. To write is already to choose!” pagbibigay-diin ng CEGP.
