Isang kongresista ang naghain ng panukalang batas na naglalayong suspendihin ang buwis o excise taxes sa gasolina, diesel, at iba pang produktong petrolyo sa loob ng apat na taon.

Sa House Bill No. 10246 na inakda ni Deputy Speaker at Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Rufus Rodriguez, ang koleksiyon sa pagtataas ng excise tax increases alinsunod sa itinakda ng Republic Act No. 10963 o ng Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law, ay sinususpinde mula Enero 1, 2022 hanggang Disyembre 31, 2025.

"As such, the excise tax on fuel products from January 1, 2022, until December 31, 2025, will be collected based on the rates provided for in the National Internal Revenue Code before it was amended by Republic Act 10963,” saad ng panukala.

Ayon kay Rodriguez, sa sandaling sinuspinde ang adjustments o pagtataas, ang lumang presyo o old rates na P4.35 at P5.35 kada litro sa regular gasoline at unleaded gasoline ay ibabalik sa halip na P10 sa ngayon, samantalang ang diesel, kerosene, at liquefied petroleum gas ay hindi papatawan ng anomang excise tax.

Dahil dito, magreresulta ito sa pagbaba ng mga presyo ng consumer goods at serbisyo, anang mambabatas.
