Pinahahalagahan ng Department of Health (DOH) ang gampanin ng mga nurses sa paglaban sa coronavirus disease (COVID-19), sabi ng ahensya nitong Biyernes, Oktubre 22.
Naglabas ng pahayag ang DOH matapos ang mga ulat ng mga nurses na nagsisipag-alis ng bansa para makahanap ng mas maayos na oportunidad dahil ulat na kakulangan ng suporta ng gobyerno sa Pilipinas.
“We value the role of nurses in this fight against COVID-19 and in the realization of the Universal Healthcare Act,” sabi ng DOH s isang pahayag.
“In line with this, the DOH fought together with other government agencies towards the proper implementation of the Nursing Act,”dagdag nito.

Siniguro rin ng DOH ang probisyon ng healthcare worker benefits sa ilalim ng Bayanihan laws na may kabuuang P16.759 bilyon mula Setyembre 30 o nasa 10 percent ng COVID-19 funds departamento bawat taon.
Dagdag ng DOH, may panukala na rin ang ahensya sa revised hospital staffing pattern sa Department of Budget and Management (DBM) para maisaayos ang patient:Human Resources for Health (HRH) ratio sa mga pampublikong ospital.
Ayon sa DOH, ang migration ng mga health workers kagaya ng mga nurses sa mga mas maunlad bansa para hanapin ang mas maayos na oportunidad ay hindi lang sa Pilipinas nangyayari bagkus ay karaniwan umano ito sa mga papaunlad na bansa.
The Department respects the individual’s freedom and choices of health workers in the pursuit of better career opportunities,” sabi ng DOH.
“However in recognition of the important role of HCWs in our health systems, the DOH has come up with strategic plans to address the HRH out-migration problem,” dagdag nito.
