Nasa higit 4,000 pamilya o nasa 15,000 indibidwal ang lumikas dahil sa Bagyong “Maring” ang nanatili pa rin sa mga evacuation centers.
Ito ang iniulat ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) nitong Lunes, Oktubre 18 habang siniguro ng ahensya na tutulungan ang mga apektadong LGUs para mabigyan ng tulong ang mga biktima ng bagyo.
Mula Oktubre 14, nakapagtala ang DSWD ng nasa 4,299 evacuee-families o nasa 15,017 indibidwal. Kasalukuyan na tumutuloy ang mga ito sa mga temporary shelters sa 104 evacuation centers sa Ilocos, Cagayan Valley at Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
“As of the October 14 report, the DSWD extended over P2.2 million worth of assistance to the province of Cagayan, while more than P977,000 worth of aid were distributed to families affected by landslides in the provinces of Abra and Benguet.”

Sakaling humiling ng dagdag na suporta ang mga apektadong LGUs, sabi ng DSWD na mayroong nasa P2-B halagang stock at pondo ang maaaring gamitin para sa disaster response operation.
Sa nasabing halaga, nagsisilbing standby funds ang nasa higit P1.12 billion sa Central Office at sa mga field offices.
Dagdag pa ng DSWD, nasa kabuuang 373,169 family food packs (FFPs) ang nakahandang ipamahagi sa iba’t ibang parte ng bansa sa ngayon.
“Through its concerned Field Offices, the DSWD will continue to coordinate with the affected LGUs, which are the first responders during disasters, to ensure that the immediate needs of their affected constituents are immediately addressed,” sabi ng ahensya.
