Binati ng mga senador ang mamamahayag na si Maria Ressa dahil sa pagwawagi ng Nobel Peace Prize ngayong taon. 

Pinuri ni Senador Risa Hontiveros si Ressa sa pagiging kauna-unahang Pilipino na nagwagi ng pinakaprestihiyosong pagkilala sa buong mundo.

Kinilala ng Norwegian Nobel Committee si Ressa, kasama si Dmitry Muratov ng Russia, "para sa kanilang pagsisikap na pangalagaan ang kalayaan sa pamamahayag."

“She has made our country stronger. She has shown that Filipinos cannot simply be silenced. She has taught us that we have courage. She has taught us that we can hold the line,” ani Hontiveros sa kanyang Twitter nitong Biyernes, Oktubre 8.

Binati rin ni Senador Panfilo Lacson si Ressa.

“But more than the prestige that comes with the award, is the responsibility of continuing to uphold the freedom of expression – the reason for the award,”  ayon sa isang pahayag ni Lacson nitong Sabado, Oktubre 9.

“It is hoped that the Nobel Peace Prize will further inspire the responsible practice of journalism for the good of all,” dagdag pa niya.

Si Ressa ang co-founder at chief executive officer ng online news website na Rappler at nakilala ito pamumuna laban sa pang-aabuso ng kapangyarihan, karahasan at mga paglabag sa karapatang pantao sa panahon ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Duterte.

Ipiprisinta ang Nobel Peace Prize sa Disyembre.
