Kinilala ni Senator Richard Gordon nitong Sabado, Oktubre 9 ang manifesto of support mula sa 100 pinuno ng medical at health sectors kaugnay ng nagpapatuloy na imbesgitasyon sa Senado ukol sa umano’y ma-anomalyang procurement deals ng gobyerno laban sa coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“Our medical and healthcare professionals have long suffered during this pandemic, and we cannot stress enough that they are our biggest heroes for all the risks and hardships they have to deal with in taking care of our sick people,” ani Gordon sa isang pahayag.
“I join them in their collective call of righteous indignation to the government’s poor governance and slow response to curb the spread of COVID-19 that took the lives of many people, including among the healthcare workers,” dagdag nito.
“We must continue helping boost the morale of our medical frontliners. Without them, we will surely have perished as a people,”pagpapatuloy ng senador.

Pinunto ni Gordon, chairman ng Senate Blue Ribbon Committee na dumidinig sa kaso, na “more and more people are now speaking out and standing out” laban sa umano’y korapsyon sa mga hakbang ng pamahalaan laban sa pandemya.
Sa pitong-pahinang pahayag na isinapubliko nitong Biyernes, Oktubre 8, ilang dating pinuno at pangulo ng medical societies ang nagpahayag ng suporta sa Senate Blue Riboon Committee kaugnay ng imbestigasyon sa procurement ng Department of Health (DOH) sa mga personal protective equipment (PPE), test kits at iba pang medikal na suplay na idinaan sa Department of Budget and Management’s Procurement Service (DBM-PS).
Nilagdaan ang manifesto ng nasa 100 health professionals kabilang sina dating DOH Secretary Dr. Esperanza Cabral at public health advocate Dr. Tony Leachon.
“We support the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee in its investigation to seek the truth and crush corruption that has severely crippled our society. Public office is public trust. Public officials should be accountable to the people,”sabi ng mga ito.
Lumabas ang manifesto matapos ipag-utos ni Pangulong Duterte ang hindi pakikiisa ng kaniyang gabinete sa mga pagpupulong at pag-atas sa militar at pulisya na huwag sundin ang pag-iimplementa ng arrest orders laban sa mga resource persons na na-cite for contempt ng Senado.
Matatandaang, kinuwestyon ng Senado ang umano’y iregularidad na pag-a-award ng bilyon-halagang kontrata sa Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation na may kaugnay sa dating economic adviser ni Duterte na si Michael Yang.
Sinita rin ng Senado ang “overpricing” sa mga medical supplies na binili sa nasabing kompanya at ang pagpili ng administrasyon sa isang banyagang firm sa halip na sa lokal na pagawaan.
