Nagpahayag ng pasasalamat si United States (US) President Joe Biden sa sakripisyo at kontribusyon ng mga Filipino Americans sa paghuhulma sa bansa bilang “mas perpekto.”
Ito ang pahayag ng Pangulo sa pagbubukas ng Filipino American History Month nitong Oktubre 1, isang okasyon para pagnilayan ang mga tagumpay at milestones ng Filipino Americans sa bansang US.
Sa kanyang mensahe na ibinahagi sa Facebook page ng Philippine Embassy sa Washington DC, nagpasalamat ni Biden sa kontribusyon ng mga Filipino Americans sa mga nagdaang taon.
“To our Filipino American community: thank you for all you do and for all you endure to make our union more perfect,” sabi ng Pangulo.

Kinilala ni Biden ang malaking ginampanan ng mga Pilipino sa pagbabago ng Amerika mula 16th Century.
“With a recorded presence in the continental United States as far back as October 1587, Filipino Americans have served our Nation, defended our democracy, and fought for the promise of a more just and inclusive America. Their contributions are reflected in some of our Nation’s greatest triumphs and struggles,”sabi ni Biden.
“When the United States and our allies overcame enemy forces to bring World War II to an end, Filipino Americans were fighting on the frontlines to make our victory possible,” dagdag niya.
“When Filipino farmworkers organized across the Nation, including tile Delano Grape Strike in California, they catalyzed permanent changes that improved the conditions of farm labor in the United States,” pagpapatuloy nito.
Nagbigay-pugay si Biden sa mga Filipino Americans sa ginampanan nitong tungkulin sa bansa laban sa coronavirus disease (COVID-19) na nakahawa na sa hindi bababa sa 43.5 milyon at kumitil ng nasa 700,000 katao sa Amerika.
“Filipino Americans have continued to serve and sacrifice in one of the darkest years in our history, selflessly working on the widespread frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic,”ani Biden.
“Today, our Nation mourns their losses and honors the tremendous contributions of Filipino Americans during this global health crisis and throughout our history,” pag-alala ng Pangulo sa mga nagbuwis ng buhay sa frontline.
Samantala, binanggit ni Biden na ang bahagi ng esensyal na lakas at pagkakaiba-iba, paalala sa lakas ng loob ng mga immigrants at isang pausbong na puwersa ng civic movemnst at engagement ang komunidad ng Filipino Americans.
“This month, we come together as one Nation to honor the history of service and sacrifice of our Filipino American community and to welcome the future achievements of their youth,” sabi ni Biden.
“May we celebrate their stories, culture, and contributions today and every day, and may their resilience continue to inspire us all,” idinagdag niya.
Sa datos ng US-based fact tank Pew Research Center, lumalabas na nasa 4.2 milyong Filipino Americans ang nasa Amerika mula taong 2019.
