Nagbabala ang Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sa paggamit ng nasal spray products na sinasabing panlaban sa coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Pinayuhan ng FDA ang publiko na hindi dapat gamitin ang produkto bilang panggamot laban sa COVID-19.
“They should not be used as substitutes to medicines and vaccines to prevent or treat SARS-CoV-2 Infection or COVID-19.The public is further encouraged to be vigilant in using products with claims against prevention or treatment of the COVID-19 disease,” panawagan ng ahensya.
Ipinaliwanag ng FDA na pinapahintulutan lamang ito bilang medical devices para sa panandaliang paggamit nito sa nasal cavity laban sa polusyon.

“These are sprays that coat the nasal mucosa with substances that have a non-specific effect against pathogens.The products do not have active pharmaceutical ingredients that directly treat, eliminate or prevent diseases,” dagdag pa ng FDA.
