Hindi apektado sina Senador Panfilo “Ping” Lacson at Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III sa naiulat na tinanggap ni Pangulong Duterte ang nominasyon ng PDP-Laban bilang kandidato sa pagka-bise presidente sa 2022 national and local elections.
Ayon sa pahayag na inilabas ng Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) na pinangungunahan ni Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, tinanggap umano ni Duterte ang endorsement na tumakbo ang pinunong ehekutibo bilang bise presidente.
Inaasahan na kukumpirmahin o itatanggi ito ni Pangulong Duterte sa kanyang public address na gaganapin ngayong Martes, Agosto 24.
“It won't matter to me and [Senate President] Sotto’s determination to run in the May 2022 national elections,”ani Lacson, na tatakbo bilang presidente sa susunod na taon.

“We have already declared and at this point in time, there is no turning back,” dagdag pa niya.
Samantala, si Sotto ang makakatunggali ni Duterte, kung kumpirmado, sa pagkabise presidente.
“That’s good to know so that we are not guessing. It does not affect my resolve, anyway,” ani Sotto sa isang magkahiwalay na text message sa mga mamamahayag.
Opisyal na ilulunsad nina Sotto at Lacson ang kanilang election tandem sa Setyembre 8.
“That said, we continue to hope that the electorate will not be swayed by entertainment politics nor affected by fear and intimidation when they choose our country’s next leaders,” ani Lacson sa kanyang panawagan na i-elevate ang public discussions para sa 2022 poll.
“As long as the campaign runs on issues involving our people’s desire for good governance made possible by fixing a systematically broken government, we are good,” dagdag pa niya.
