Isang Pilipinong teacher ang kabilang sa mga tumanggap ngayong taon ng Princess Maha Chakri Award, isang biennial international award na layong kilalanin ang mga outstanding teachers mula sa 10-nation Southeast Asian bloc at Timor Leste, na gumawa ng malaking bahagi sa buhay ng mag-aaral.
Inanunsiyo ng Department of Education (DepEd) nitong Linggo, Hunyo 13, ang parangal kay Marcelo T. Otinguey, na kasalukuyan nagtuturo bilang Head Teacher V ng Governor Bado Dangwa Agro-Industrial School sa Benguet.
“Pagbati (Congratulations), Sir Marcelo T. Otinguey! SDO (Schools Division Office) Benguet, Cordillera Administrative Region, 2021 Princess Maha Chakri Awardee,” pagbabahagi ng DepEd sa isang Facebook post nitong Linggo.
Kinilala ng Princess Maha Chakri Award (PMCA) Foundation si Otinguey bilang isa sa mga outstanding teachers mula sa Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at Timor Leste “whose dedication and internationally recognized achievements have resulted in significant impact on the students’ lives and a better education system.”
Si Otinguey ay nagtapos ng Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) sa Benguet State University at may Master’s degree in Education-General mula sa Baguio Central University.
Binanggit ng PMCA Foundation ang pakilala kay Otinguey “for obtaining the Certification of Recognition as School Brigada Eskwela Coordinator by the Deped Cordillera, and the Certificate of Appreciation by Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) on the video produced for the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) Teach On:Keeping the Passion Alive.”
Mula 2015, taunang pumipili ang PMCA Foundation, katuwang ang Ministry of Education mula ASEAN at Timor Leste ng outstanding teacher na dedikado sa kanyang trabaho at nagresulta ng malaking epekto sa buhay ng mga estudyante.
Kabilang sa mga kinilalang guro ng PMCA ngayong taon sina Pengiran Haji Mohd Wahab bin Pengiran Haji Abdullah ng Brunei, Norn Dary ng Cambodia, Khoiriah, M.Pd. ng Indonesia, Sengphet Khounpasert ng Laos, Kyaw Zin Aung ng Myanmar, Norhailmi Abdul Mutalib ng Malaysia, Yok Joon Meng ng Singapore, HA Anh Phuong ng Vietnam, Pratin Leanchumroon ng Thailand, at Vicente Marcal da Silva ng Timor Leste.
