Matapos ang isang dekada muling naiuwi ng Mexico ang korona ng Miss Universe, sa pagwawagi ni Andrea Meza sa katatapos lamang na 69th Miss Universe coronation night sa Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood sa Florida, nitong Lunes (Linggo sa US).

Isinalin ni 2019 Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi ng South Africa ang korona sa 26-anyos na kandidata mula Chihuahua City sa Mexico, na nangibabaw sa 74 na kandidata mula sa mula sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng mundo.

Itinanghal namang first runner up si Julia Gama ng Brazil habang second runner-up Miss Peru Janick Maceta. Si Adline Castelino ng India ang third runner-up at fouth runner-up si Kimberly Perez ng Dominican Republic.

Sa final round mismong ang mga katanungan na mula sa mga contestant ang kinailangang sagutin ng top 5 finalists, dito nabigyan sila ng pagkakataon na maihayag ang kanilang final statement sa iba’t ibang uri ng isyu sa lipunan.

Ang final statement ni Andrea sa isyu ng “changing beauty standards”: “We live in a society that, more and more, is more advanced. And as we advance as a society, we’ve also advanced with stereotypes. Nowadays beauty isn’t only the way we look. For me, beauty radiates not only in our spirit, but in our hearts, and in the way we conduct ourselves. Never permist someone to tell you that you’re not valuable.”

Sa naunang question and answer portion ito naman ang naging tanong ng hurado kay Miss Mexico: If you were the leader of your country. How would you have handled COVID-19 pandemic?

Sagot ni Andrea: “I believe there's not a perfect way to handle this for situations, such as COVID-19. However, I believe that what I would have done was create a lockdown even before everything was that big. Because we lost so many lives and we cannot afford that, we have to take care of our people. That's why I would have taken care of them since the beginning.”

Si Alma Andrea Meza Carmona ay isang modelo at dating sumali sa Miss World 2017 kung saan kinilala siyang first runner-up.

Ito naman ang ikatlong beses na kinoronahang Miss Universe ang pambato ng Mexico.

Samantala, bigo namang makapasok sa top 10 ang pambato ng Pilipinas na Rabiya Mateo, na umabot hanggang top 21 ng semifinals.
