IDINEKLARA ni Manila Archdiocese Apostolic Administrator Bishop Broderick Pabillo ang Mayo 8 bilang Day of Prayer para sa mga namatay sa COVID-19.
Sa pahayag ng Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) na ipinost sa kanilang website, hinihikayat ni Pabillo ang publiko na taimtim na manalangin at ipagluksa sa nasabing araw ang pagkamatay ng libu-libong Pinoy dahil sa COVID-19.
Hinihikayat din niya ang mga mamamayan na dumalo sa “Mass for the Dead” na idaraos sa Manila Cathedral dakong 9:00 ng umaga, sa pamamagitan ng livestreaming.
“We bring together at the altar of the Lord all the tears and sorrows of our people for their loved ones,” nakasaad pa sa pastoral instruction na inisyu ni Pabillo.

“The whole archdiocese will mourn for our dead during this pandemic but with great hope given by the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus,” banggit pa nito.
