Nilinaw ni Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo M. Ano na wala siyang kautusan sa Philippine National Police (PNP) na bantayan o tutukan ang mga community pantry sa buong bansa.
“I have not ordered the PNP to look into the community pantries around the country. The community pantry has been a traditional practice in our country as part of Bayanihan culture and spirit specially in the times of calamities and disasters. Iba-iba lang ang pangalan: community pantry, food bank, soup kitchen, kapitbahayan and ayuda, among others. In the spirit of Bayanihan, many Filipinos have been doing selfless acts of kindness since last year,” ani Sec. Ano.
Idinugtong pa ng kalihim na hanggat ang intensiyon ay mabuti at walang bahid o kulay ng pulitika,ito ay dapat aniya itonghikayatin at suportahan.

“Since this is a purely voluntary and private initiative, we should not interfere except to ensure that minimum health standards are complied with,” pahayag pa ng DILG chief.
Hiling ni Ano sa mga organizers na marapat na tumalima sa umiiral na mga batas at lokal na mga ordinansa upang mapigilan ang pagkalat ng Covid-19.
“As to the issue of whether organizers are required to secure barangay permits, organizers should consult with the concerned barangays if such is required,” dugtong pa nito.
Papasok lamang aniya ang PNP o ng lokal na mga opisyal kung mayroong alinmang paglabag sa batas, kung ang mga nagrereklamo/complaints mula sa komunidad o ng organizers na nais humingi ng tulong.
Aniya handa ang LGUs, barangays at ng PNP na magbkaloob ng ayuda upang matiyak na maayos ang distribusyon sa publiko.
