Hiniling ng ilang kongresista sa Finance Department at sa Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) na palawigin pa ang deadline sa pagbabayad ng income tax returns nang 30 araw.
Sinabi ni Deputy Speaker Rufus Rodriguez, Deputy Speaker Bernadette Herrera at Deputy Minority Leader Carlos Zarate na dapat bigyan ng sapat na panahon ang mga taxpayer sa paghahain ng buwis at pagbabayad bunsod ng umiiral na quarantine.
Ang deadline sa pagbabayad ng buwis ay itinakda sa Huwebes, Abril 15.

“NCR Plus and other places have been under ECQ (enhanced community quarantine) for [two] weeks now, and the filing will only be [four] days after on April 15,” ani Rodriguez. “And there is talk on MECQ (modified enhanced community quarantine) in the coming weeks.”
Aniya, hindi laging posible sa taxpayers na mag-submit ng tax return online, dahil ang ilang mga dokumento ay maaaring nakatago sa mga tanggapan na ngayon ay sarado dahil sa lockdown at iyong namang nais mag-file nang personal sa BIR o mga bangko ay limitado sa transportasyon.
“Clearly, there is an urgent need to extend the filing deadline to give taxpayers or their representatives more time to comply with the requirement. The extension would also enable the BIR to introduce adjustments required by the new law,” giit ni Rodriguez.
Samantala, isinusulong din nina Zarate at Herrera ang ekstensiyon ng deadline sa paghahain ng income returns sa Mayo 31.
