PINAGHARIAN New York-based Grandmaster Mark Paragua ang 3rd Marinduque Online Chess Tournament matapos makipag draw kay Italy-based Grandmaster Roland Salvador sa final round sa lichess platform nitong Biyernes.

Tumapos si Paragua na may 7 wins at 2 draws tungo sa total 8 points, iskor na kaparehas na naitala nina GM Salvador, Fide Master Alekhine Nouri at Candidate Master Chester Neil Reyes.

Subalit, nakamit ng Marilao, Bulacan native Paragua ang titulo dahil sa mas mataas ang tie break points sa 1-day event, hosted at sponsor ni Board Member engineer John Pelaez na nilahukan ng 278 chess players worldwide.

“Hindi ko na pinilit ‘yung last game ko. Nanigurado na lang ako ng magandang placing,” sabi ni Paragua.

Sa isang banda, nalagay si Candidate Master Mark Jay Bacojo sa solo fifth place na may 7.5-points output.

Ang mga nakapasok sa 6th hanggang 10th place na may tig 7 points ay sina Tristan Jared Cervero, NM Karl Victor Ochoa, FM Nelson Villanueva, Lloyd Lanciola at FM Roel Abelgas.
