WASHINGTON (AFP) — Nagdeklara ang US Department of Homeland Security ng alerto sa terorismo sa buong bansa nitong Miyerkules, na binabanggit ang potensyal na banta mula sa mga domestic anti-government extremists na tutol kay Joe Biden bilang pangulo.
“Information suggests that some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence,” sinabi ng department.
Nakasaad sa National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin na ang heightened threat ng pag-atake “will persist in the weeks following the successful presidential inauguration,” na naganap noong Enero 20.

“DHS does not have any information to indicate a specific, credible plot,” saad dito.
“However, violent riots have continued in recent days and we remain concerned that individuals frustrated with the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition... could continue to mobilize a broad range of ideologically-motivated actors to incite or commit violence.”
Sinabi ng alerto na mayroong pagtaas ng mga banta mula pa noong nakaraang taon mula sa lokal ba marahas na mga ekstremista na inudyukan ng mga paghihigpit ng Covid-19, pagkapanalo ni Biden kay Donald Trump sa halalan noong Nobyembre, brutalidad ng pulisya at iligal na imigrasyon.
Sinabi ng DHS na ang mga pagganyak na ito ay maaaring manatili sa mga darating na buwan at ang pag-atake noong Enero 6 ng mga tagasuporta ni Trump sa Kongreso ay maaaring magpalakas ng loob ng mga ekstremista “to target elected officials and government facilities.”
Mahigit sa 150 katao, kabilang ang mga miyembro ng armadong mga ekstremistang grupo, ay naaresto mula nang atake, na tinawag na isang insureksyon.
