Anoa ng pagkakatulad ng Grand Theft Auto (GTA) V, Mobile Legends, at Roblox? Ito ang mga video game na malamang ay nilalaro ngayon ng iyong kaibig-ibig at inosenteng anim na taong gulang na anak.
Ito rin ang mga larong nakatuon sa mga matatanda at /o mga tinedyer, kung sakaling hindi mo alam.
Ibinahagi ni National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) Executive Director Daisy Atienza ang nakakabahalang impormasyon na ito sa House Committee on Creative Industry at Performing Arts sa isang virtual hearing nitong Huwebes.
Bukod sa mga nabanggit na mga laro, ang mga sumusunod ang bumubuo sa top 14 “most common video games played” ng mga estudyante sa grades 1 hanggang 3: Paw Patrol, Gatcha, Candy Crush, Angry Birds, My Talking Angela, Fishdom, Plants vs. Zombies, Stick Man Legacy, Wordscapes, My Talking Ben, at Super Mario Bros. 3.
“While the most commonly played video games of grades 1 to 3 are casual games, it is an interesting finding that children as young as six years old are already knowledgeable of teen or adult-oriented games such as Roblox, Grand Theft Auto, and Mobile Legends,” sinabi ni Atienza sa panel.
Inilarawan ng NCCT official ang phenomenon na “scary” o nakakatakot
“Role-playing games (RPGs) are the most popular type of game for grades 4 to 6, often battle games, which can be played online and interactively with chatrooms that allow for conversations with actual players,” dagdag niya.
Nagsalita si Atienza tungkol sa masamang epekto ng mga video game sa mga grade schooler. “As grades 1 to 3 learners are engaged more in video gaming, their performance in accomplishing their tasks and their contextual behaviors decline.”
Ngunit sinabi niya na ang ibang media tulad ng telebisyon ay maaari ring makapagbigay ng katulad na epekto. “As grades 1 to 3 are exposed to more television content, the more their ability to maintain prosocial behavior in class decreases,” sinabi ni Atienza.
Bukod dito, ang 2015 at 2018 research papers kung saan ibinatay ni Atienza ang kanyang presentasyon ay nagsasabi na ang mga uri ng mga programa sa TV na pinapanood ng mga batang Pilipino “contain heavy themes on violence, death, sex, extramarital affairs, drugs and revenge.”
Karamihan sa mga palabas sa TV na ito - na karaniwang pinapanood ng mga bata kasama ang kanilang mga magulang, na kataka-taka - ay ginagawang nakakaakit ang kamatayan at sex, sinabi ni Atienza.
“Interestingly, children watch cartoons almost always by themselves, as parents see cartoons as less harmful than teleseryes or adult movies,” dagdag niya.
