HINILING ng Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) sa Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) na huwag payagan ang Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) na makaboto sa nakatakdang POC election sa Nobyembre 27.

Sa sulat ni PVF president Edgardo ‘Tito Boy’ Cantada kay POC Election Committee chairman Teodoro Kalaw na may petsang Setyembre 25, 2020, iginiit ni Cantada na nananatili ang pagkilala ng International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) sa PVF bilang tanging asosasyon ng volleyball sa Pilipinas.

“We, at Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF), put under protest the right to vote of Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) in the coming POC election. LVPI was disaffiliated from FIVB at the 36th FIVB World Congress in Cancun, Mexico. The POC Constitution stipulates that only those which are affiliated to their respective IF’s can be POC members,” pahayag ni Cantada.

“The PVF is the FIVB member and National Federation (NF) for Philippine volleyball. Attached are the 36th FIVB World Congress Minutes and Appendices for your reference,” dagdag ni Cantada.

Matagal nang ipinaglalaban ng PVF ang karapatan sa POC membership bunsod ng hindi makatarungan pagkilala ng POC sa pamumuno noon ni Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco.

Sa datos ng POC, walang naganap na botohan o desisyon ang General Assembly upang alisin ang PVF bilang miyembro ng POC noong 2015.

“Bukas na libro sa sports community na ang PVF ay biktima lamang ng pang-aabuso ng nakaraang lider. Ito po ang pinag-laban namin sa FIVB at kami naman po ay kinilala pa rin ng FIVB dahil sa maganda naming reputasyon,” sambit ni Cantada.

Iginiit naman ng LVPI, pinamumunuan ni Peter Cayco, na kinilala ng FIVB Board of Administration ang LVPI. Ngunit, sinabi ni Cantada na ang desisyon ng FIVB General Assembly na naganap sa World Congress ang higit na makapangyarihan.

“We hope that you will not allow the integrity of the POC election to be compromised with the participation of LVPI,” pahayag ni Cantada.

Tatakbo si incumbent POC president Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino para sa bagong four-year term laban kay Clint Aranas ng archery federation. Nakuha ni Tolentino ang POC leadership sa isinagawang ‘snap election’ noong 2018 matapos magbitiw si POC president Ricky Vargas.
