Halos 10 milyong Pinoy ang nawalan ng trabaho dahil sa epekto ng coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Ito ang inihayag ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Sinabi ng DSWD, kumikilos na ang mga ahensyang nasa ilalim ng Human Development and Poverty Reduction Council upang matulungan ang mga apektado nito.
“The health crisis alone has created deep impacts on the economy, as well as our fellow Filipinos’ livelihood and well-being, with prospects of an estimated 10 million Filipinos losing their jobs, the repatriation of nearly 70,000 displaced overseas Filipino workers, and the increasing number of Filipinos involuntary hunger among others,” pagdidiin ni DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista.

Aniya, ang core strategies ng konseho ay education, health, social protection, at building opportunities para sa mga Pinoy.
Kaugnay nito, binanggit ng Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) na may ilan silang programa para matulungan ang repatriated overseas Filipino sa kanilang sitwasyon.
Paglilinaw ni Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, ang isang Balik- Pilipinas, Balik-Hanapbuhay program kung saan binibigyan ng P20,000 ang OFWs para makapagsimula ng kanyang negosyo.
