ANG grupo sa likod ng inilarawan ng pulisya na ‘digital vandalism’ sa pader ng pambansang punong tanggapan ng pulisya ay lumagpas sa linya ng kalayaan ng pagpapahayag, sinabi ng isang opisyal ng pulisya nitong Miyerkules.

Noong Lunes ng gabi, nag-post ang Concerned Artists of the Philippines ng isang digital ‘wanted’ image ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa pader malapit sa EDSA gate ng Camp Crame.

Sa social media post nito, sinabi ng grupo na ang layunin ay tuligsain ang iba’t ibang anyo ng mga diumano’y pang-aabuso sa karapatang pantao ng administrasyong Duterte.

“This is part of a collective campaign of artists and cultural workers called ARTISTS FIGHT BACK, which aims to expose the government’s accountability for the successive attacks to our freedom of expression and public participation, civil and human rights, socio-economic and environmental rights, and democracy,” saad sa post sa kanilang social media account.

Ngunit para kay Banac, foul ang ginawa ng grupo dahil sinira nito ang isang lugar na itinuturing bilang isang pambansang makasaysayang lugar bunga ng People Power Revolution.

Matatandaan na ang Camp Crame ay ang lugar kung saan nagkanlong ang mga opisyal ng Depensa at militar na tumalikod sa yumaong diktador na si Ferdinand Marcos bago lumabas ang mga tao upang palayasin siya.

“Although the vandals did not leave any visible mark, the fact that the attack targeted a national historical site on the same day that the country commemorates the anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution makes it totally deplorable,” sinabi ni Banac.

“Much as we respect the freedom of the vandals to express their sentiments, we believe this freedom has limits and must not step beyond national interest,” he added.

Gayunman, ayaw sabihin ng pamunuan ng PNP kung itutuloy nila ang mga kaso laban sa mga responsable.
