NAGKASUNDO ang Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at China na palakasin ang pagpapalitan ng diyalogo at datos upang makatulong na mawakasan ang paglaganap ng coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), pagbabahagi ni Chinese Ambassador to Manila Huang Xilian, kamakailan.

Naganap ang kasunduan sa Special Asean-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on Covid-19 na idinaos sa Vientiane, Laos noon nakaraang Huwebes.

“The ministers have exchanged views on the situation of the epidemic and explored cooperation to jointly fight this threat. They’ve agreed on (having) measures like an exchange of data, research efforts, and capacity building to tackle regional public health threats,” pagbabahagi ng Ambassador sa isang panayam.

Sa iisang pahayag, nangako ang ASEAN at China na palalakasin ang ugnayan gamit ang

ASEAN-led mechanisms gayundin ang mga katuwang sa labas upang matugunan ang krisis sa kalusugan.

Nagkasundo rin ang dakawa na aksiyunan ang panganib sa komunikasyon sa paglaban sa fake news at maling pagpapakalat ng impormasyon hinggil sa outbreak.

Pinamunuan nina Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. at Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi ang naging pagpupulong.

Sa isa namang tweet, nanawagan si Locsin sa publiko “to deplore the lies spread by governments and people who are stooping so low as to use a threat against all humanity as an instrument of geopolitical strategy.”

Ayon kay Huang, malaki ang naitulong ng Pilipinas bilang country coordinator sa Asean-China dialogue, upang mapalakas ang kooperasyon sa rehiyon.

“We are very appreciative of the very constructive role the Philippine government played, in particular Secretary (Teodoro) Locsin who has played a leading role in pushing forward regional cooperation,” ayon sa envoy.

Dagdag pa ng opisyal, patuloy na isusulong ng China ang “policy of transparency” at sisiguraduhing updated ang lahat sa sitwasyon.

“Soon after the outbreak, we shared with the World Health Organization and other countries about the genetic sequence of the virus so that we can work together and develop some kind of vaccine and we even established a website where you can find sufficient information in six languages every day,” anito.
