It became one of Korea’s top grosser movie of all time. Nanalo si Lee for best screenplay at the Grand Bell Award. Nominado din siya for best director para sa Miracle In Cell No 7.
Maraming bansa ang nagka-interes na igawa ito ng remake pero mas pinili ang Pilipinas for sentimental reasons. Malapit sa puso ni Lee ang Filipino veterans at Korean soldiers dahil they fought together noong WWll.
Muling napaiyak ang direktor sa panonood ng Pinoy adaptation lalo na sa madamdaming pagtatagpo ng mag-amang Aga Muhlach at Xia Vigor sa bilangguan. Ang payo ni direk Lee ay magdala ng panyo or box of tissue.
