EAST LONDON, SOUTH AFRICA – Walang naging problema si Pinoy fighter Joey Canoy (W15 KO8 L3 D1) sa bigat na 103.5 pounds, habang ang karibal na si dating minimumweight world champion Nkosinathi Joyi (W28 KO19 L5 D1) ay mabigat ng konti sa 104.5 pounds sa ginanap na weigh-in para sa kanilang IBO World Minimumweight championship fight ngayon sa ICC Hotel, East London South Africa.

Tangan ni Canoy ang knockout winning streak mula sa panalo kontra kina Ryan Makiputin at Rodel Tejares, habang si Joyi ay galing din sa unanimous decision win kontra Nhlanhla Tyirha para sa WBO African light flyweight title.

Mas may karanasan si Joyi, laban sa Pinoy fighters, subalit ang huli niyang laban kay Pinoy champion Rey Loreto ay nauwi sa TKO loss.

“I had no problem making weight. I know I’m fighting on enemy’s turf so I cannot let this end at the judges’ hands. I believe in the integrity of the judges but a win will be easier if I go for the knockout. This is a make or break fight for me. I will give it my everything. I am determined to bring home that belt and settle for bigger fights next year,” pahayag ni Canoy.
