INAASAHANG malaki ang maitutulong ng P200 million solar-diesel hybrid power generation facility na nakatakdang itayo sa Tawi-Tawi sa susumod na taon, pagbabahagi ng isang opisyal.

Sa isang Facebook post nitong Biyernes, sinabi ni Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Secretary Emmanuel Piñol na inaasahang mapalalakas ng naturang proyekto ang produksiyon ng seaweed farming Industry sa mga bayan ng Sibutu, Sitangkai, at Panglima-Sugala. “Started by my predecessor, the late MinDA Secretary Abul Khayr Alonto, the renewable energy in Tawi-Tawi for seaweeds value-adding will construct a solar-power generation facility with a back-up diesel generator to ensure reliable power supply for seaweeds drying and processing,” pagbabahagi ni Piñol.

Aniya, ang United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) ang siyang magpapatupad ng proyekto na pinondohan naman ng European Union through its Access to Sustainable Energy Programme (EU-ASEP), katuwang ang probinsiyal na pamahalaan ng Tawi-Tawi at ng Association of Islands Electric Cooperative sa pamamagitan ng local franchisee, ang Tawi-Tawi Electric Cooperative (TAWELCO).

Dagdag pa ni Piñol, isinulong ng MinDA, na dating pinamumunuan ni Alonto, ang proyekto makaraan ang hiling ng mga seaweed farmers ng probinsiya para sa isang matatag na suplay ng kuryente para sa pagpoproseso ng seaweed.

“I presided over the meeting of the Project Steering Committee in the MinDA headquarters in Davao City to ensure that the project started by the late Secretary Alonto will be pursued,” aniya.

Samantala, ibinahagi naman ni UNIDO Philippine Country Representative Tonilyn Lim na nagkaroon na ng bidding para sa pagtatayo ng Solar-Diesel Hybrid Power Generation Project at makikilala na ang napiling bidder bago magtapos ang taon.

“When completed, the RETS project will provide a steady and reliable supply of power, not only for the drying and processing of seaweeds but also to the households in the island municipalities,” pagbabahagi ni Piñol.
