SINA Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara at Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go – dalawang mambabatas na todo suporta sa sports – ang magbibigay ng mahalagang mensahe sa pagbubukas ng first Philippine Professional Sports Summit ngayon sa Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

Iniakda ni Sen. Angara ang importanteng pagsusog para mapataas ang cash incentives ng mga atleta sa ‘Athletes Incentives Law’ at kasalukuyang Chairman ng Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas (SBP), habang si Sen. Go, ang Chairman ng Senate Committee on Sports.

Target ng dalawang araw na summit — kauna-unahan sa kasaysayan ng pro sports – sa pagtataguyod ng Games and Amusements Board (GAB), sa pangunguna ni Chairman Abraham “Baham”Mitra na mapatatag ang ugnayan ng lahat ng stakeholders sa professional sports at maliwanagan sa iba’t ibang isyu na nakakapekto sa career ng atleta tulad ng anti-doping.

Mismong si Mitra ang magbibigay ng welcome remarks ganap na 9:00 ng umaga bago ang pagbibigay ng ‘plaque of appreciation’ sa dalawang Senador sa kapwa nagsususlong ng pagbabago at kaunlaran sa hanay ng professional sports.

“This first-ever Philippine Professional Sports Summit will give participants the chance to share ideas and good practices and provide valuable networking opportunities among various groups in the professional industry,” pahayag ni Mitra.

Nakatakda ang round-table discussions sa bawat pagtatapos ng usapin at isyu na tatalakayin para mas mabigyan linaw ang bawat mensahe.

Pangungunahan naman ni GAB Commissioner Mario Masanguid ang programa sa hapon.

Nakalinyang magbigay ng mensahe at magturo sina Dr. Alendro Pineda ng Philippine Sports Commission-PHINADO hingil sa World Anti-Doping agency (WADA); Dr. Shirley Domingo, Vice President for Corporate Affairs of PhilHealth on Philhealth and Universal Health Care; Dr. Joselyn Eusebio, Developmental Pediatrician, on Developmental Impact of Video Gaming, Internet Gaming Disorder and E-sports; Dennis Eroa, Vice-President of the Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) on the Role of Media in Professional Sports Development; and Paulo Salud of POWCAST on Social Media Utilization.

Sa ikalawang araw ng programa, magbibigay aral sina GAB Legal Division head Atty. Ermar Benitez hingil sa proposed amendments of the rules and regulations governing professional boxing; Nutrifit owner and chief nutrionist Jeaneth Aro on sports nutrition; and Paulo Salud on Social Media Etiquette; Hubert Minn on Professional Boxing Judging; Bruce McRavish on Professional Boxing Refereeing; at Elmer Lopez on Work Ethics of Ring Officials.
