WALANG iwanan ang suportang ibinigay ni Pangulong Duterte para masiguro ang tagumpay sa hosting ng 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, kasabay ang paalala sa mga sports officials na gamitin ang pondo sa tamang pamamaraan.

Sentro ng administrasyon ang paglaban sa korapsyon at direktang tinukoy ito na isang malaking problema ng pamahalaan sa kanyang ika-apat na SONA nitong Lunes.

Mismong si Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea ang nagparating ng mensahe ng Pangulo sa ginanap na ‘Unity Meeting’ kasama ang mga sports officials, sa pangunguna ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez at piling atleta na sasabak sa biennial meet sa Nobyembre 30 hanggang December 11.

“This meeting is called within the walls of Malacañang Palace to show that President Duterte is giving his 100 percent support to the country’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games,” pahayag ni Medialdea.

“Full support ang Presidente sa Philippine sports,” aniya.

Kasama ring nakiisa sa mga atleta si Senator Bong Go at iginiit sa mga sports officials na klaro ang habilin ng Pangulo sa Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC), Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) at Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) na siguruhin na hindi masasayang ang pondo ng taong-bayan.

“The President has directed them to ensure there will be no corruption in the procurement,” ayon kay Go.

“The President told them to ensure a smooth and clean procurement. Not a single peso should be wasted, especially since these are government money, these are public funds,” aniya.

Sinabi ni Go na mananatili ang PHISGOC bilang SEA Games organizing committee, ang POC ang mangangasiwa ng mga laro, habang ang PSC ang bahala sa fund disbursement sa pamamagitan ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

Ang mga pondo na nakalap mula s apribadong sektor ay pangangasiwaan ng PHISGOC, ayon kay Go.

Nanawagan din si Medialdea na “set aside differences and join hands in unity to work as one well-oiled machinery and provide a hosting of the 30th SEA Games that every Filipino should be proud of.”

Hindi, aniya makatutulong ang hidwaan sa hanay ng mga sports officials bagkus makakaapekto pa ito sa pagsasanay ng mga atleta.

“This call for support and unity is embodied in Memorandum No. 56 directing all government agencies and instrumentalities including GOCCs and encouraging LGUs to play an active role in the preparation, organization, hosting and holding of 30th Southeast Asian games,” aniya.
