Ito ang binitiwang mensahe ni Philippine Sports Comission (PSC) chairman at Team Philippines Chef de Mission (CDM) William “Butch” Ramirez, para tuldukan ang samot-saring isyu, kabilang ang korapsyon sa Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) na lubhang nakakaapekto sa paghahanda sa 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) hosting sa Nobyembre 30 hanggang Disyembre 10.

Iginiit ni Ramirez na walang dapat ipagamba ang sambayanan, higit ang mga atletang puspusan na rin ang paghahanda, dahil solid at nagkakaisa ang mga mga opisyal ng PSC, PHISGOC at Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) sa layuning mapagtagumpayan ang hosting sa biennial meet.

Tahasang pinabulaanan ni Ramirez ang isyu ng korupsyon at umano’y pagmamaneobra ng PHISGOC sa paghahanda para sa 11-nation meet.

“There is no truth to the allegation of corruption. Yesterday, Cong. Alan Peter Cayetano, and myself sat down with Sen. Bong Go and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea to sort out issues being reported by news outfits in the past days,” pahayag ni Ramirez.

Ikinagulat ng marami ang naging pahayag ng Pangulong Duterte na ipamamahala sa PSC ang paghahanda sa SEA Games dahil may bahid ng korapsyona ng PHISGOC – batay sa SEAG Federation ang awtorisadong mangasiwa ng SEAG program.

Nauna na ring itinanggi ni PHISGOC Executive Director Tatz Suzara ang alegasyon, kasabay ng pagpapahayag na tanging ang PSC lamang ang may hawak sa pondo.

Aniya, ang gusot at nagsimula lamang nang iparehistro nila sa SEC ang PHISGOC, Inc. bilang isang foundation.

“PHISGOC Inc. and PHISGOC which composed of POC, PSC and official recommended by Malacanang, are different entity. Ginawa naming ito for marketing purposes,” sambit ni Suzara.

Sinabi naman ni Ramirez na magiging bukas ang PSC upang ipaalam sa publiko kung paano ginagamit at kung saan ginagamit ang pondo na ibinigay ng gobyerno para sa paghahanda sa SEA Games.

“We assure the athletes and the general public that all decisions and transactions will be done with utmost transparency. The PSC, through the guidance of the Department of Budget Management and assistance of the Procurement Service shall work together to ensure that public funds are protected and that all disbursements or expenses follow existing government rules and laws,” aniya.

Handa rin ang PSC na tipunin ang mga pinuno ng mga national sports association upang iulat sa kanila ang antas ng paghahanda ng bansa para sa nalalapit na hosting.

“We shall be gathering Presidents and athletes of all POC and PSC accredited NSAs to personally update them on developments and be witnesses to the pledge of unity of major stakeholders of Philippine sports. We enjoin the country to be united in supporting government efforts and lend support towards the victory of our beloved athletes. All for our dear country’s pride and glory,” ayon pa kay Ramirez.
