MAY bagong twist sa Flores de Mayo ang mga health workers mula sa Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC) sa Batac City, Ilocos Norte sa pagtatampok sa public health advocacies sa selebrasyon.

Sa kanyang opening speech sa event nitong Martes, sinabi ni MMMH&MC chief, Dra. Maria Lourdes Otayza na ang selebrasyon ay nakatuon sa mahihirap at kung paano nila madaling maaabot ang serbisyo ng mga ospital at medical center.

“In our daily role as ambassadors for health, this celebration is our unique and engaging way to promote our programs and bring our message of hope, quality treatments, and unity in the community,” aniya.

Ang selebrasyon ay kinabibilangan ng pageant-like Santa Cruzan procession kung saan walong pares ng health workers ang pumarada sa paligid ng lungsod habang bitbit ang kani-kanilang custom-made arches na dinisenyuhan ng public health advocacies.

Ito ay kinabibilangan ng proper new-born hearing screening treatment, mother care, infant breastfeeding, nutrition and adolescent health clinics, animal bite treatment, diabetic clinic, tuberculosis treatment, at mental health program.

Matapos ang parade, binigyan ng pagkakataon ang health workers na ipahayag ang kanilang adbokasiya.

Adbokasiya ng nagwaging pares, sina doctors Karl Alvin Corpuz at Vernie Constantino, ang pagtatayo ng nutrition support clinic sa ospital na titiyak sa paghahatid ng mga nutrisyon sa mga Ilocano, lalo na sa mahihirap.

Sinabi ni Jhey-ar Mangati, MMMH&MC’s Health Education and Promotions Officer, na ang event ay isa sa mga paraan ng ospital sa paghahanda sa Department of Health (DOH)-Hospitals Friendship Games sa Tuguegarao City sa Hulyo 2019.

Lalahukan ang mga palaro ng DoH-retained hospitals mula Regions 1 at 2.

“We are looking forward to the friendship games as this is also an opportunity for every DOH retained hospital across Northern Luzon to strengthen linkages and referral system benefiting our thousands of patients to easily have access to quality and effective health care services,” ani Mangati.
