BUO ang suporta ng gobyerno sa paara sa preparasyon sa nalalpit na hosting ng bansa sa 2019 Southeast Asian Games na gaganapin sa Nobyembre 30 hanggang Disyembre 10.

Malaki ang pasasalamat ni Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) Chair Alan Peter Cayetano kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at sa kanyang mga miyembro ng Gabinete para sa suportang ibinibigay ng mga ito para sa nasabing biennial meet.

“We are very much encouraged by the support of the President and the Cabinet. During the Cabinet briefing, we committed to have the best viewed and best hosted SEA games,” pahayag ni Cayetano.

Ipinirisinta ni Cayetano noong Lunes sa isinagawang Cabinet meeting ang mga bagong ulat para sa paghahanda sa nasabing 11-nation meet.

Akari Sports wala pang balak pasukin ang PBA

Kasunod nito ay iniutos ng Pangulong Duterte ang pagpapalabas ng pondo para sa SEA Games, bukod pa sa pag apruba nito sa karagdagang P1 bilyong piso para sa pondo sa nasabing biennial meet.

“We b r i e f e d the President and the Cabinet about the progress of the preparations including the construction of the major infrastructure facilities where the events will be held such as the Athletics Stadium, Aquatics Center and the Athletics Village,” ayon kay Cayetano.

Kasama ni Cayetano na humarap sa Pangulo ay ang Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) President na si Vince Dizon at ang Executive Board member at PHISGOC Chief Operating Officer na si Ramon Suzara, kung saan ay ipinakita nila na ang SEA games ay isang pagkakataon para sa isang host country na ipinakita ang kaayusan, pagkakaisa at pagiging palaban pagdating sa kompetisyon.

“The President agreed to augment the current budget of the SEA games because he understood the importance of the SEA games to the Filipino athletes and its long-term benefits to the tourism and economic sectors in the country,” dagdag ni Cayetan.

Matatandaan na unang inihain na budget ng PHISGOC ang kabuuang P7.5 billion para maging pondo sa SEA Games, ngunit tinapyas ng Kongreso ang P2.5 billion.

Kabuuang 56 sports at 523 events ang lalahokan ng mga mga 11,250 atleta at mga team officials na magmumula sa 11 bansa, sa paligid ng Southeast Asia.

Samantala, nabanggit d i n s a n a s a b i n g p a k i k i p a g p u l o n g n i Cayetano sa Presidente ang pagtatalaga sa Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Procurement Service upang pangunahan ang procurement process upang pahintulutan ang the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) na magsagawa ng mas mabilis at tamang pagkuha ng kagamitan, supplies at mga sports equipment at mga service contractors na siyang tutugon sa mga pangangailangan para sa SEA games.

“By designating the DBM Procurement Service as the procuring entity, we can make sure that every cent of government’s money is well accounted for,” ani Cayetano.
