Dismayado ang Philippine National Police (PNP) sa New People’s Army (NPA) kasunod na rin ng pagkakasawi ng 10-anyos na lalaki nang masabugan ng improvised explosive device (IED) na itinanim umano ng mga rebelde sa Northern Samar, nitong Semana Santa.

"The PNP joins the civil society and the nation in strong condemnation of this act of terror staged by the communist terrorists on holy Week that killed a 10-year-old Grade 3 schoolboy in Northern Samar," ayon kay PNP Spokesman Col. Bernard Banac.

Nauna nang naiulat ng Eastern Visayas Police Regional Office (PRO-8) na binawian ng buhay ang batang si Armando Jay Raymonde, taga-Bgy. San Jorge, Las Navas, Samar, nang biglang masabugan ng IED sa nabanggit na lugar, nitong Abril 17.

Iniutos na aniya ni PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde, kay PRO-8 regional director, Brig. Gen. Dionardo Carlos na magsagawa ng imbestigasyon upang makilala at madakip ang grupong nasa likod ng pagsabog.

"A full-dress investigation is underway to identify and build a strong case that we will present in court against CPP (Communist Party of the Philippines)-NPA personalities responsible in the IED attack," ayon kay Banac.

Naniniwala si Banac na isa lamang itong desperadong hakbang ng grupo matapos ang sunud-sunod na pagkabigo ng kilusan sa Eastern Visayas.

Tinukoy nito ang pagkabigo ng mga rebelde na kubkubin ang  Victoria Municipal Police Station nang labanan sila ng mga pulis sa Victoria, Northern Samar, na ikinasawi ng tatlo nilang miyembro, nitong Marso 28.

"The PNP assures the public that justice will be served and the suspects will pay for their crime,"pahayag pa ni Banac.
