Makatatanggap na ang mga self-employed member ng Social Security System ng benepisyo at serbisyo mula sa Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP).

"We recognize that most self-employed members of the SSS are also workers who need to be protected in time of work-connected sickness, injuries, or death,” ani Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
“Since the creation of the ECC in 1975, the EC program has been limited only to workers in the formal economy, so it’s high time to expand the coverage of the program, for after all, they are part of our workforce,” ayon kay Bello.
Ayon kay ECC Executive Director Stella Banawis, makatatanggap ang mga self-employed members ng SSS ng loss of income benefits, medical benefits, career’s allowance, at rehabilitation services, sa oras na magkasakit o madisgrasya sa trabaho.Makatatanggap din ang mga beneficiaries miyembro ng death pension at funeral benefits kapag namatay ang empleyado nang may kinalaman sa trabaho.
