PINATUNAYAN ni Go For Gold triathlete John Leerams Chicano ang kahandaan para sa nalalapit na Southeast Asian Games sa matikas na kampanya sa Powerman Asia Duathlon Championships nitong weekend sa Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Napabilang sa podium ang pambato ng bansa sa itinuturing pinakamalaking duathlon competition sa mundo na ginaganap sa venue kung saan napagwagihan ni Chicano ang silver medal sa men’s triathlon sa 2017 Southeast Asian Games.

“Overall, it was a good race for me. This is a great buildup for the SEA Games late this year,” pahayag ni Chicano, tumapos ng bronze medal sa men’s elite category sa tyempong dalawang oras, 43 minuto at 25 segundo.

Nanguna ang Frenchman na si Antony Costes sa 10-kilometer run, 60km cycling at 10km run event sa oras na 2:41.23 kasunod si Thomas Bruins ng Netherlands na tumapos sa 2:42.04.

“To stand on the medal podium in an international race with some of the toughest and seasoned duathletes is something that our country should really be proud of, sambit ni Go For Gold godfather Jeremy Go.

Bukod sa triathlon, suportado ng Go For Gold ang kampanya ng atletang Pinoy sa cycling, sepak takraw, skateboarding, at wrestling, gayundin sa basketball bilang teams owner ng PBA D-League at Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.

Kasangga rin ang Go for Gold ng National Basketball Training Center sa gaganaping Coaches Convention sa March 22-24 sa SM Mall of Asia.

Impresibo ang paghahanda ni Chicano sa SEA Games sa Nobyembre sa Subic matapos unang magwagi sa Tri-Factor International Triathlon sa Quzhou, China nitong Disyembre.

Sa podium finish sa Powerman Asia, nasiguro ni Chicano ang top ranking sa Asian Triathlon Confederation (ASTC) class at muling kinokonsidera na mabigat na banta sa korona ni reigning SEAG gold medalist Nikko Huelgas.

Tulad ni Chicano, suportado rin ng Go for Gold si Huelgas, target ang makasaysayang ‘three-peatr’ sa SEA Games.
