MAS magiging epektibo ang programa ng Go For Gold Philippines para sa paghahanap ng mga bagong talento sa triathlon.

Ang ilalargang Go For Gold Sunrise Sprint races sa Cebu, Davao at Subic ngayong taon ay magsisilbing talent search para makahanap nang mga bagong atleta na maihahanda para masundan ang mga yakap sa tagumpay ni National mainstay at internationalist Nikko Huelgas.

“I’m looking forward to discover diamonds in the rough and find another Nikko Huelgas,” pahayag ni Go For Gold godfather Jeremy Go.

Si Huelgas ang ginagamit na batayan para sa magiging world-class ng Pinoy triathlete. Sa gaganaping Southeast Asian Games sa bansa sa Nobyembre, target niyang makamit ang ‘three-peat’ sa men’s triathlon event.

Nakipagtambalan ang Go For Gold sa Sunrise Event para sa Sprint tournament na isasabay sa gaganaping 5150 triathlon races sa April 28 sa Cebu, July 7 sa Davao at November 3 sa Subic Bay. Ang 5150 ay isang Olympic distance race.

Ayon kay Go, ang mga top performers sa open category (15 years old and above) ay isasama sa Go For Gold triathlon team kasama si Huelgas at iba pang national team members na sina John Chicano at Kim Remolino.

``It will be a points-based series and the one with the most points or wins at the end of the three races will get a contract with our team,’’ sambit ni Go, vice president for marketing of Powerball Marketing and Logistics Corp., ang kompanya sa likod ng Go For Gold project.

Malugod naman ang pagtanggap ni Huelgas sa programa ng Go For Gold para sa kabataang Pinoy.

“I won’t be able to win the 2017 SEA Games if not for the full support of Go For Gold. But it’s not only about delivering medals and bringing pride to the country. It’s also about sustaining the program,” sambit ni Huelgas.

“As a veteran triathlete, my role is to help sustain the success by inspiring and mentoring a new generation of triathletes to become world-class,” aniya.
