KINAPOS na makapasok sa final round ang dalawang pambato ng Pilipinas na sina Margielyn Didal at Christiana Means sa Skateborading Street League World Championship sa Rio de Janeiro sa Brazil.

Ngunit , pumuwesto pa rin sa ika-14th ang Asian Games gold medalist na si Didal habang 22nd place naman ang Oregon-based skateboard athlete na si Means sa top 24 women’s skateboard athletes.

Ayon kay Monty Mendigoria, pangulo ng Skateboarding at Rollerskate Sports Association of the Philippines (SRSAP), na isa lamang ito sa mga qualifying competitions na lalahukan nina Didal at Menas para makakuha ng sapat na puntos tungo sa 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“They may have missed qualifying for the finals, but they managed to place good in the rankings,” pahayag ni Mendigoria.

Akari Sports wala pang balak pasukin ang PBA

Nilinaw ni Mendigoria na isa lang ito sa mga kompetisyon na sasabakan ng mga pambato ng skatbeoarding para makakuha ng puntos na magbibigay sa kanila ng slot sa olimpiyada.

“As we have said in different interviews before, this is just the first ranking competition of World Skate and the reason why our athletes competed is to gain points and establish their world ranking. Our target here is to get a slot in the Olympic qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo games,” aniya.
