NAKATAKDANG buksan ngayong taon ng Department of Agriculture (DA) 2 (Cagayan Valley) ang P10-milyong unang monolithic dome sa DA-Southern Cagayan Research Center sa Minanga Norte sa Iguig, Cagayan, na magsisilbing imbakan ng mga produktong agrikultura, katulad ng mga binhi at iba pang ani.
Ibinahagi kamakailan ni DA Regional Executive Director Narciso Edillo na malapit nang matapos ang pagtatayo ng dome, na may sukat na 8.5 metrong taas, 15m lawak, at 30m haba na may climate-smart technology na kayang tumayo sa panahon ng mga kalamidad katulad ng bagyo at lindol.
“The state-of-the-art warehouse will be a breakthrough in the region’s agriculture sector, particularly for seeds storage to maintain seed viability and quality,” pahayag ni Edillo.
“This can also be used as human shelter or evacuation center during calamities, cold storage for agricultural products and many others,” saad pa niya.
Kailangan mong bumoto
Ayon sa opisyal, minamadali na nila ang pagpapatapos ng proyekto upang mapagkumpara ang benepisyo nito sa mga tradisyunal na imbakan o warehouses.
Unang ipinakilala ang ideya ng dome-shaped warehouse sa ahensiya na ginanap na national conference of agricultural engineers nitong nakaraang taon, kasama ng mga dayuhan at mga lokal na eksperto na nagpresenta ng teknolohiya.
“Considering that the technology on ‘monolithic’ is a breakthrough in the field of construction and its cost is comparable to that of the allocated fund for conventional warehouse, the office had immediately considered the project,” pagbabahagi ni engineer Generoso Oli, DA- 2 Field Operations Division chief.
“Eight similar projects will be constructed this year at cooperatives or farmer organizations regionwide,” paliwanag pa niya.
Ang isang monolithic dome ay istruktura na nasa pormang one-piece form, na maaaring permanente o panandalian, at maaari o ‘di maaaring maging bahagi ng isang tapos na istruktura.
