PATULOY na kinikilala sa ibang bansa ang critically-acclaimed film na Respeto ng Treb Monteras.

Pinagbibidahan ng Filipino hip-hop artist na si Abra, inuwi ng Respeto ang Jury Best Film award sa Youth Days category ng 31st Exground Filmfest sa Wiesbaden, Germany. Bukod sa tropeo, wagi rin ito ng 2,500 euros cash price.

“The Philippine film ‘Respeto’ has convinced the youth jury in many ways. It introduces us to the frightening conditions of a country where people can be shot by the police on the street on the mere suspicion of having committed a crime,” nakasaad sa pahayag na nakapost sa official 31st Exground Filmfest website.

Nasungkit din ng pelikula ng award mula sa International film festival of India, kung saan tumanggap si Direk Monteras ng Centenary Award for the Best Debut Film of a Director.

Ang Respeto ay tungkol sa pagsikat ng isang batang rapper, si Hendrix (karakter ni Abra). Ginagabayan siya ng isang matandang poet at martial law veteran, si Doc (Dido de la Paz), sa kabila ng pamumuhay nila na napalilibutan ng kahirapan at krimen.

Ito ay isang official entry sa 2017 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival, na nakapag-uwi rin ng mga tropeo para sa Best Film, Best Supporting Actor, Best Sound, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, at Audience Choice Awards.

Ngayong taon din, iginawad sa Respeto ang Best Feature Film in the Teen Section sa 36th Carrousel International du Film de Rimouski sa Quebec, Canada, at Silver Tiger Uncaged Award sa New York Asian Film Festival; at Best film, Director, at ang Audience Choice Award sa 16th Cyprus Film Days International Film Festival sa Mediterranean island-nation.
