MATAGUMPAY na nadepensahan ni Grandmaster Darwin Laylo ang kanyang titulo sa katatapos na 2nd annual Chooks to Go National Rapid Chess Championships nitong Sabado sa Activity Center Ayala Malls South Parksan Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Malakas na sinimulan ng San Roque, Marikina City bet Laylo ang kanyang laro para makopo ang titulo sa Open crown na may perfect 7 points tungo sa top prize P20,000 plus champonships’ trophy.

“I didn’t look to defend my title, just to play my best,” sabi ni Laylo, miyembro ng multi-titled Philippine Army chess team.”I knew that this was a ntough tournament with all the players. I just tried to play my best and now I am really happy.” ani Laylo, bahagi ng coaching staff ng Ateneo de Manila University chess team.

Si Allan Cantonjos mula Philippine Airforce Chess Team anb nagbulsa ng solo second place na may 6.5 points para tanggapin ang P10,000 at trophy.

Sa Executive division,nakihati ng puntos si National Master lawyer Bob Jones Liwagon ng Kidapawan City, rank Captain at isa sa top players ng multi-titled Philippine Army chess team sa gabay ni Army Judge Advocate (AJA) Colonel Maria Victoria Girao, kontra kay Stephen Manzanero para makalikom 6 points para makapuwersa ng two-way tie for first place kasama si engineer Arjoe Loanzon,na dinaig si Narquingel Reyes.

Nakopo ni Loanzon ang titulo via superior tie break points kay Liwagon subalit naghati ang dalawa sa combined prize 15,000 sa kanilang efforts.

Suportado ni BAVI President at General Manager Ronald Mascariñas, ang 2nd annual Chooks-to-Go National Chess Rapid Championship ay inorganisa ng Rotary Club of Nuvali at sanctioned ng National Chess Federation of the Philippines sa pakikipagtulungan ng Laguna Chess Association sa gabay nina Dr. Alfredo “Fred” Paez at Philippine Executive Chess Association at Chess Arbiter Union of the Philippines.
