Pinag-aaralan ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque kung tatanggapin niya ang bagong posisyon sa pamahalaan na iniaalok sa kanya o magbibitiw na siya sa tungkulin upang kumandidatong senador sa susunod na taon.

Makaraang hindi mabatid ang tungkol sa pagbisita ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa ospital nitong Miyerkules, sinabi ni Roque na pag-iisipan niyang mabuti ngayong weekend ang kanyang “options” at magdedesisyon sa Lunes.

‘The President asked me to stay and offered me a position which currently that does not exist yet. While there was no categorical agreement on what to do, I did say I will consider it and i wanted the weekend to think it over,” sinabi ni Roque sa Palace press briefing.

“In my decision on whether or not to run or accept whatever the Office of the President may have, I will consider the fact in this capacity as a spokesperson I must know everything about the President.”Inamin ni Roque na dahil sa nangyari ay maaaring sabihin na hindi na siya epektibong maging tagapagsalita ng Presidente dahil hindi niya alam ang tungkol sa pagpunta ni Duterte sa Cardinal Santos Medical Center nitong Miyerkules para sa medical test. Iginiit niyang hindi siya nagsinungaling nang una niyang sabihin na may “private time” lang ang Pangulo nang hindi siputin ang isang event nitong Miyerkules.

“I do concede that his going to the diagnostic exam was something that I did not know and therefore I’m inclined to believe that perhaps I’m not in a position to continue with this current function.

“I will think twice about my options. I need the weekend now to decide. It goes without saying that if I do file, I’m considered resigned from this position.

“As you can see I cannot be effective as a spokesperson unless I know everything about the President. Now people think I lied. I’m telling the nation I did not. I did not know,” giit pa ni Roque.

Una nang hinimok ni Duterte si Roque na huwag na lang kumandidatong senador dahil hindi naman ito mananalo.

“Ayan sila si Roque, gusto magsenador. Sabi ko, ‘Tama ka na. T*** i** d’yan. Standby ka. Bigyan kita ibang trabaho. Hindi ka manalo diyan. Bakit? Ah ‘yung mga sundalo ayaw sa ‘yo,” sinabi ng Pangulo sa pagpupulong ng Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association Inc. sa Malacañang nitong Huwebes ng gabi.

“Itinuro ko kayo at saka si Calida. Sundalo ayaw sa iyo,” sabi ni Duterte, na una nang inendorso si Roque bilang isa sa mga posibleng kumandidatong senador sa mid-term elections sa susunod na taon.
