Nagpahayag ng pagdadalamhati kahapon ang Department of Justice (DoJ) sa pagpanaw ni dating Justice Minister Ricardo Puno.

“The entire DoJ family grieves the passing of one of their most illustrious department secretaries, who served as head of the agency for several years,” sinabi ni Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra.

Dadalhin ang mga lab ni Puno ngayong linggo sa DoJ compound sa Manila para sa necrological services.

“Upon the request of the late SOJ Ricardo Puno’s family, we shall hold a brief necrological service at the DoJ on Friday morning,” ani Guevarra.

Si Puno ay itinalaga ni dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos para pamunuan ang noo’y Ministry of Justice mula 1979 hanggang 1984. Bago nito, siya ay nagsilbing Assemblyman ng Batasan Pambansa, mula 1978 hanggang 1979.

Nagsilbi rin si Puno sa hudikatura sa loob ng halos 13 taon nang siya ay maging district judge (1965-1973) at Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justice (1973- 1978).

Nagtapos siya ng abogasiya sa Manuel L. Quezon University at pumasa sa Bar noong 1949.
