Nasa 80 indibiduwal mula sa komunidad ng mga katutubong Aeta sa Boracay Island sa Malay, Aklan ang makikinabang sa land reform na isinusulong ni Pangulong Duterte sa pinakapopular na tourist destination.
Ito ang inihayag ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque nang muling ihayag ng Pangulo na isasailalim nito sa land reform program ang isla.
Gayunman, ipauubaya muna ng Pangulo sa Kongreso kung nais nitong panatilihin ang maliiit na bahagi ng isla para sa turismo.

Ayon kay Roque, naglabas na ng pahayag ang Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) na maaaring isailalim sa repormang agraryo ang 18 ektarya ng Boracay.
“Per the Department of Agrarian Reform, an initially identified 18 to 20 hectares, with no structures, can be immediately placed under agrarian reform subject to further ground verification survey. Following the President’s instruction to prioritize indigenous people, there are possibly eighty individuals from Ati/Aeta village in Boracay island that could qualify as agrarian reform beneficiaries subject to screening,” ani Roque.
Ang hakbang, aniya, ng Punong Ehekutibo na isailalim sa land reform ang isla ay naaayon lamang sa Presidential Proclamation No. 1064, na pinirmahan noong 2006 at pinagtibay pa ng Korte Suprema.
