Umaasa ang Malacañang na maipatutupad ni Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat ang mga reporma sa kanyang kagawaran matapos siyang aprubahan kahapon ng Commission on Appointments (CA) panel. Ang pagtatalaga kay Puyat, anak ni dating Senador Alberto Romulo, bilang tourism chief ay kaagad inaprubahan ng CA panel.
“The tourism industry is an important sector for economic development. We thus welcome the confirmation of the appointment of Ms. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat as the new Secretary of the Department of Tourism,” ani Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque. “We are confident that Secretary Puyat’s confirmation would give further impetus to the reforms she has spearheaded in the DoT.”
Itinalaga ni Pangulong Duterte si Puyat nitong unang bahagi ng buwan upang pamunuan ang DoT, kapalit ni Wanda Teo na nagbitiw sa gitna ng advertisement contract controversy.
