WKF, umayuda sa PSC sa isyu ng ‘government intervention’ sa PKF

NILINAW ni Vincent Chen, Executive Committee member ng World Karate Federation, na walang planong makialam ang Federation sa pagbuo ng bagong karate association sa bansa at ang pagbuo ng three-man committee para pangasiwaan ang itatatag na bagong grupo ay suhestyon lamang.
Ipinarating din ni Chen sa Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) na huwag mangamba kung may kinatawan ang Philippine Sports Committee (PSC) sa naturang three-man committee dahil awtomatiko itong bubuwagin sa sandaling maisaayos na pamunuan sa karate sa Pilipinas.

“We do not want the new organisation to be like the old one, so the panel make sure they don’t do that. In addition, we can review the constitution inside the panel and save lots of times. We don’t have any interest in this case, I only try to expedite the process,” pahayag ni Chen sa mensahe kay PSC Commisioner Ramon Fernandez.
Isa si Fernandez, nag-expose sa kalokohan ng ilang opisyal ng Philippine Karate-do Federation, NSA, Inc na naging dahilan para sa pagbaho ng ‘recognition’ dito ng World Karate Fedration (WKF), sa inirekomenda ni Chen na mapabilang sa three-man panel.
Hindi ayon sa panlasa ni POC Chairman Ricky Vargas ang lumutang na isyu sa karate at sinabing kailangang pag-aralan maigi ang kahihintnan higit at posibleng masanctioned ang bansa dahil sa presensiya ni Fernandez sa committee ay posibleng maging dahilan ng ‘government intervention’.
“What Government intervention? A sport body, or NF of WKF should be a legal entity, what is wrong with PSC as one of the member of the supervision panel to supervise the formation of a Karate organisation. After all, the panel will be dissolved when the Organisation is formed. Further, the panel is to expedite the formation of a new organisation which include the majority of the karate fraternity of Philippine,” pahayag ni Chen.
“ Of cause, if the suggestion is not welcome, I shall take it back. By the way, I prefer the panel to be chaired by POC, and they can nominate one more person into the panel. Good? aniya
Nitong April 20, matapos ang ginawang report ni Chen sa pagbisita sa bansa at pakikipagpulong sa lahat ng stakeholder ng karate, binawi ng WKF ang ‘recognition’ sa PKF-NSA, Inc.
“We have reviewed at the evidences and research provided by our Executive Committee member Mr. Vincent Chen, and the information by you and your Federation and the WKF has decided to withdraw the recognition of the Philippine Karate Federation-NSA, Inc, with immediate effect,” pahayag sa sulat ni WKF president Antonio Espinos.
Naging kontrobersyal ang PKF matapos ireklamo ng mga atleta ang ginawang pangongotong ni PKF secretary-general Raymond Lee Reyes sa kanilang US$1,8000 allowances sa traning sa Germany. Nakatakda ring magsampa ng kasong korupsyon ang PSC laban kay Reyes.
Sa kasalukuyan, nasa pangangasiwa ng POC ang mga miyembro ng Philippine Team gayundin sa pagpili ng mga atleta na isasabak sa Asian Games sa Agosto sa Palembang, Indonesia.
“The POC will now take charge of the training and other related activities of the national karatekas,” pahayag ni Vargas sa panayam ng Spin.ph.
“We need to get the best athletes to represent the country and leadership or membership issues should not disenfranchise them. If the POC can assure this, we are willing to take on the challenge.”
