Iginawad ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang Order of Sikatuna kay outgoing Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Philippines Thanatip Upatising dahil sa naiambag nito sa relasyon ng dalawang bansa sa Southeast Asia.
Nakasaad sa pahayag ng Malacañang na iginawad ang pagkilala kay Upatising sa kanyang farewell call sa Pangulo sa Palasyo nitong Martes.
“President Duterte expressed his gratitude to the outgoing ambassador for his contributions in strengthening the relations between the Philippines and Thailand,” saad sa pahayag ng Palasyo.
Iginawad ni Duterte ang Order of Sikatuna with the Rank of Grand Cross (Gold distinction) kay Upatising dahil sa exemplary contributions nito para lalong tumibay ang relasyon ng Pilipinas at Thailand.
Binanggit din ng Pangulo ang naging papel ng ambassador sa pag-abot ng tulong ng Thailand sa rehabilitation at rebuilding efforts ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas sa Marawi City.
“The distinction was also given to him for his efforts in strengthening the cooperation between Thailand and the Philippines to advance peace, progress and prosperity in the country and in the region, as well as for helping build closer relations between the people of the Philippines and Thailand,” ayon pa sa Palasyo.
