Ipinag-utos kahapon ni Philippine National Police chief, Director General Ronald dela Rosa sa liderato ng Caloocan City Police na unahin ang pag-aresto sa isang grupo ng trigger-happy vigilantes na sangkot sa mga pagpatay sa lungsod.
Ayon kay Dela Rosa, partikular na nakababahala sa nasabing grupo na malimit iugnay ang kanilang pagpatay sa extrajudicial killing na ipinupukol naman sa mga pulis at sa pamahalaan.
“There is really a group of people there that love to kill drug pushers. Sometimes, they just kill anybody and this caused the relief of the commander,” ani Dela Rosa.

Bukod kay Senior Supt. Jemar Modequillo, sinibak din sa puwesto si Northern Police District (NPD) director, Chief Supt. Roberto Fajardo dahil sa mga insidente ng pagpatay sa nasabing lungsod.
Ang buong puwersa ng pulis sa Caloocan City ay sinibak at isinailalim sa re-training bunsod ng serye ng pamamaslang, kabilang ang umano’y kinasasangkutan ng mga pulis sa ilalim ng giyera sa ilegal na droga.
“So the new commander of Caloocan Police should take it as his own project. To identify those responsible behind the killings because if you do not do drastic actions about it, the public would think that it is the police who are responsible for that,” pahayag pa ng PNP chief.
“We really need to arrest them to remove suspicions that the police either tolerate it or order the killings,” dugtong nito.
Matatandaang tinanggal sa puwesto si Modequillo dahil sa mga hindi naresolbang kaso ng pagpatay sa Caloocan City.
Ayon kay Dela Rosa, personal niyang kilala si Modequillo at hanga siya sa pagiging mabuti ng opisyal, ngunit ang pagpatay sa Caloocan City ay magsisilbing mensahe na ang liderato ng PNP ay seryoso na wakasan ang mga pagpatay sa lugar.
“This is really to emphasize that it is not enough that you are a good officer. What matters is that you have really have to be in charge of your area,” paliwanag ni Dela Rosa.
