Ipinagsanib na puwersa ng militar at pulisya ang isang sub-leader at bomb-making expert ng Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) sa isang engkuwentro sa Aleosan, North Cotabato nitong Huwebes ng gabi.
Mismong si Joint Task Force Central Commander Maj. Gen. Arnel Dela Vega ang kumilala sa BIFF sub-leader-commander na si Buds Basilan.
Si Basilan ay napatay ng mga tauhan ng 34th Infantry Battalion ng Philippine Army (PA) at Aleosan Police sa Barangay Puypuyan, Aleosan, North Cotabato.

Ayon sa mga awtoridad, lumaban si Basilan nang tangkaing arestuhin ng tropa ng militar. Nasa wanted list si Basilan at ika- 120 sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Periodic Status Report.
“Our soldiers and policemen had been tracking the person and was about to apprehend him when he shot at the authorities resulting to the encounter. Basilan who is under the BIFF’s Karialan Faction, was responsible in the manufacture of bombs and IEDs which affected the areas of Aleosan, Midsayap and Carmen of North Cotabato,” dagdag pa ni dela Vega.
