Nangunguna sa listahan ang University of the Philippines na binubuo nina Juan Gomez De Liano, miyembro ng Philippine national team sa nakalipas na Fiba 3x3 Under-18 World Cup, kapatid na si Javi, Jun Manzo at Gelo Vito.
Tanging ang University of Santo Tomas ang hindi sumali sa men’s division.
Sasandigan ang La Salle nina dating Rookie of the Year awardees Aljun Melecio at Andrei Caracut, Justine Baltazar at Santi Santillan.
Pangungunahan ni Alvin Pasaol, nagtala ng scoring mark 49 puntos sa nakalipas na UAAP season, ang University of the East kasama sina Philip Manalang, Mark Maloles at Jason Varilla.
Brandon Clarke ng Memphis, pumanaw sa edad na 29!
Sa women’s play, isasabak ng National University sina UAAP MVPs Jack Danielle Animam at Afril Bernardino, kasama sina Annick Fabienne Edimo Tiky at Ria Joy Nabalan.
Itinalagang tournament director si Pong Ducanes.
“The schools were all behind it. Of course, some schools will not field Team A players. That’s the coaches’ decision. But as far as the board of managing directors are concerned, all the representatives were behind this event,” pahayag ni Mark Molina, athletic director ng UAAP Season 80 host school Far Eastern University.
Iginiit naman ni UAAP executive director Rebo Saguisag na ang makatutulong ang 3x3 sa pagpapalaganap ng kamalayan sa sports na kabilang na ngayon sa international sports.
“FEU has the tendency to take bold steps. This is the first time we will be holding a 3x3 event... For that, we thank them for making this bold step,” sambit ni Saguisag.
“We are getting back to our roots. Tatluhan naman tayo nagsimulang lahat,” aniya.
