KINUMPIRMA ng North Korea ang kasunduan nito sa South Korea tungkol sa “scale and action programs” ng pakikibahagi nito sa Pyeongchang Winter Olympics sa susunod na buwan.
Inihayag ng Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) na ang pag-uusap sa pagitan ng North Korea at South Korea nitong Miyerkules sa Peace House sa katimugan ng Panmunjom truce village “thrashed out the practical matters arising in the successful holding of the 23rd Winter Olympics and adopted a joint press release.”
“The joint release dealt with the scales and action programs of the north’s National Olympic Committee delegation, sports team, cheer group, Taekwon-do demonstration group and press corps to take part in the 23rd Winter Olympics, the south’s offer of the conveniences for them and the dispatch of a field survey delegation (by DPRK),” iniulat ng KCNA.
Ang nasabing pulong, na ikatlo ng magkabilang panig sa loob ng sampung araw, ay dinaluhan ng delegasyon mula sa North, sa pangunguna ni Jon Jong Su, vice chairman ng Committee for Peaceful Reunification of the Country, at ng delegasyon mula sa South na pinangunahan naman ni Chun Hae-sung, vice minister ng Unification bilang chief delegate ng bansa, ayon sa KCNA.
Ang pag-uusap ay nagresulta sa kasunduan ng pagtutulungan ng magkabilang panig sa International Olympic Committee, bukod pa sa pag-iisahing pagsasanay ng mga ski runner sa Masiryong Ski Resort sa huling bahagi ng buwang ito, at mga joint cultural event na idaraos sa Mountain Keumgang sa Pebrero, parehong sa North Korea, ayon sa KCNA.
“Both sides will agree in the way of exchange of documents on such practical matters as dispatch of the north’s Paralympic Committee delegation, sports teams, cheer group, art group and press corps to the Winter Paralympics,” saad sa isang press release ng KCNA.
Nauna rito, nagkaroon ng high-level meeting noong nakaraang linggo at ng working level meeting ngayong linggo ang dalawang Korea tungkol sa paglahok ng Pyongyang sa Winter Olympics, nagkasundo sa mga ipatutupad na hakbangin upang maibsan ang tensiyon sa Korean Peninsula, at sa pagpapadala ng North Korea ng art group sa South Korea sa panahon ng Olympics.
